According to Islam
In Islam, children are obligated to fulfill certain responsibilities toward their parents, particularly when the parents are getting older and frailer. These responsibilities form a form of reciprocation, expressing gratitude for the good things parents have done and treating them with as much kindness and mercy as they deserve. People are commanded by Allah to have compassion for their parents, to be kind and merciful to them, and to obey them in the same manner that their parents used to obey them when they were young children. Let’s learn the Rights of parents to children with the Online Quran teacher below.
Respecting parents and showing kindness to parents
Nobody else, not even the parents, apart from Allah, appears to have more compassion and kindness than they do. When Allah forbids in the Quran that people are responsible for being kind and compassionate to their parents, this injunction always appears shortly after the injunction that directs people to worship only one God. This is because Allah recognizes the significance of this obligation.
In the Holy Quran, Allah, may He be exalted, is quoted as saying something that can translate as “Thy Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him, and that you be kind to parents”. It does not matter if one or both of them reach old age during your life; you should never speak a word of contempt or rejection to them; instead, you should address those using terms of honor. And, because you care for them, extend the wing of humility to them, and pray to your Lord, saying, “My Lord, bestow on them thy Mercy even as they cherished me when I was a child.”
Muslims are commanded to treat their parents with kindness and compassion.
They are forbidden from making the slightest gesture or uttering even the slightest word of censure toward their parents. It is forbidden to show impatience, disrespect, or contempt toward one’s parents. Only when children display it to their parents does Allah praise humility; he never praises it when people display it to one another. In the Holy Quran, Allah, may He be exalted, is quoted as saying something that can be interpreted as follows. “And, out of kindness, lower to them the wing of humility.”
However, the importance of filial obedience grows when either one of the parents reaches old age, as well as when both of the parents experience a decline in their physical and mental health, which may result in incapacity. To show mercy and compassion to their parents, Allah commands Muslims to address their parents with terms of honor and to use a highly respectful and soft language. In addition, Muslims are commanded to pray for their parents as they age and become weaker and repeatedly express thanksgiving to their parents, which Allah exalted. He is connected to His thanksgiving in several verses of the Quran.
Obedience to one’s parents is among the most important keys to success.
This was recorded in a hadith narrated by the Prophet, peace be upon him, in response to Abdullah Ibn Masud’s question, “Which act is loved by Allah the most?” “To offer prayers at their early (very first) stated times,” the Prophet responded. “May God bless you and keep you.” The question that Abdullah posed was, “What comes next (in terms of goodness)?” The Prophet is credited with saying. “Be kind and obedient to one’s parents.” The question that Abdullah posed was, “What comes next (in terms of goodness)?”
According to a hadith that Jabir ibn Abdullah related, one of the most important responsibilities. That Islam imposes on its adherents in the context of its defense of the rights of parents is as follows. A man spoke up and said. “O, Messenger of God, my father wants to take part of my property even though I have children and property”. The Prophet said, “Both you and your property are your father’s.”
